Yes, any teacher seeking employment in the Public school systems require a visa either a J1 Visa or a H1B Visa to teach in the USA.

The H1-B is a work visa provided by the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration services. Every year, U.S. employers seeking highly skilled foreign professionals compete for the pool of H-1B visa numbers for which U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) allocates, controls and monitors the H1-B Visas. An educator who wants to teach in US public school system should have H1-B visa approval from USCIS in order to teach in US Public schools.

The J-1 Visa is a special non-immigrant visa type that facilitates foreign nationals with teaching background an opportunity to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s Exchange Visitor Program. Teachers should possess and meet the required criteria to participate in the program.

BITS (Beacon International Teaching Solutions) will work closely with the US Public school system and help with the H1-B Visa sponsorship.

BITS will apply for a J-1 visa program OR H1B visas on behalf of the teachers which facilitates eligible foreign teachers into the United States to teach at Elementary, Middle and Secondary educational institutions.

Teacher salaries vary in different counties and in different states in US. The yearly salary for each individual teacher depends upon the degree level and the total number of years of experience. Salaries and benefits such as Social security, Insurance etc offered to teachers will be the same as their American counterparts employed in various school districts. Salaries of educators vary depending on the cost of living, food expenses and other factors. On an average a teacher’s salary ranges from $35,000 USD to $65,000 USD per year.

BITS (Beacon International Teaching Solutions. LLC) has financial charges for the recruitment of each individual which includes - Visa fees, Immigration Attorney fees etc.

BITS (Beacon International Teaching Solutions LLC) ensures a smooth transition of educators to the US Public School system. When an educator newly arrives in the United States, BITS will provide upto 2 weeks of accomodation (boarding and lodgging) close to their place of employment.

BITS will provide support in obtaining Social Security cards, setting up Bank accounts, getting Driver's licenses, housing, transportation and cultural integration network for each teacher.

BITS will conduct periodic Curriculum Based workshops, Professional learning Modules which may include Culture based workshops, Classroom Management Workshops, Instructional Strategies training etc. to enable teachers to adapt quickly to their new settings and feel empowered in the new classroom setting.

BITS will also ensure the safety of the teachers by creating a network with various social, cultural and religious organizations.

BITS will provide all the necessary training material, conduct workshops, give guidance and train the educators in clearing the required certifications needed to teach in US Public school system.

Here are the steps BITS follows :-
  • The educators across the globe who want to teach in US public school system must first shouold submit their RESUMEs via BITS website.
  • BITS team will first interview the applicants.
  • Shortlisted applicants will be provided Login credentials to access training materials. Help and guidance will be provided to the applicants to clear the necessary certifications that is required to teach in US public school system
  • The short listed applicants will be provided interview dates with the US County schools. BITS team will coordinate between the applicants and the US public school system to arrange, modify and change interview dates if necessary. BITS team will conduct mock interviews with the candidates and gets them ready for the actual interviews.
  • Candidates will have one or more rounds of interview process with the US Public school system. Most of the times it will be one or two rounds of interviews.
  • The US county schools will inform BITS about the selected candidates.
  • BITS will coordinate with the applicants and the US county schools and get the necessary documents, paper work, and work with BITS legal team in applying for J1 visa or H1-B work visa.
  • Once the Visa is processed by USCIS, the H1-B approval document will be sent to BITS, and the BITS team will forward the same to the applicant.
  • The applicant now will use the USCIS approval document and will apply for a J1 or H1-B visa at the nearest US embassy (Note: The candidates will apply for a US J1/ H1-B visa at the US embassy that falls in their Jurisdiction). The applicant will pay the necessary VISA fees and attend the interview at the US embassy.
  • Once the local US embassy grants the VISA, the applicant/candidate will inform BITS.
  • BITS will now work closely with the applicant and the US county schools to determine the date of joining in US schools.
  • Once the US county school determines the joining date, BITS will book and pay for the accomodation for the applicant at Extended Stay hotels (where kitchen and basic utensils are provided for cooking). The applicants are responsible for the Air tickets. BITS has contracts with few travel agents to provide Air tickets to the applicants at a discounted prices.

    The applicants are advised to arrive atleast 2 weeks prior to their joining date, as there are many formalities that need to be completed befor the applicant is allowed to teach in the US schools.

United States is made up of 50 contiguous states. Every state in US is made up of many counties, there are plenty of opportunities in many counties across various states. BITS will conduct additional mock interviews if needed. The applicants will be given multiple interview opportunities with US county schools across various states . If the applicant gets the required certifications while they are in their home country; then, we feel that the chances of the applicant getting selected by the US public schools is very high. US County schools are always on the lookout for teachers who are already certified to teach in the US. BITS will provide all the necessary help and guidance for the applicants to crack the interview.
